They say things always look brighter in the morning and that was definitely true for us. We had gone to bed a bit frustrated by the day but the morning dawned bright and sunny and our campsite was prettier than we remembered. We were re-energized and ready to explore some of Idaho.

We drove by beautiful Coeur d’Alene Lake on our way into the city to find a coffee shop. We stopped in at Calypso Coffee & Creamery and we were so glad we did. The seating was really comfortable and allowed plenty of space between customers. The coffee was great and we had the delicious soup of the day, gumbo, for lunch. We also enjoyed the contemporary music playlist. We stayed for several hours working and enjoying the atmosphere.

Our next order of business was to find a nice place to spend the night. We were thrilled to find a great spot at Green Bay Campground in Sagle, Idaho. The campground is free with beautiful views of the lake. The tent sites are a short walk from the parking area and very close to the small rocky beach. The sites are spacious with plenty of tree cover for privacy. We were only planning to stay one night, so we opted to pull our jeep into a cozy spot in the trees that had a gorgeous view of the lake. It was a very hot day so we appreciated the cool breeze coming off the water.

We woke up to a warm, sunny day and took some time to just enjoy our beautiful surroundings. One of the things we love most about our travels is waking up in such amazing places all the time. As much as we enjoyed our lives in Durham, the view of the parking lot from our apartment window just wasn’t very inspiring!

Our plan for the day was to check out Sandpoint, Idaho and then head into Washington. Sandpoint is a really nice small town with plenty of free parking. We spent a couple of hours at Evan’s Brothers Coffee Roastery enjoying our coffee and using the wifi. It was very spacious and had plenty of both indoor and outdoor setting.

We would have liked to explore more of the town but we were determined to make it to Washington that day so we will have to put Sandpoint on our list for a return visit.
